The Kingston UniversityWomen in Enterprise Network (KUWEN) is dedicated to supporting women in the early stages of starting their businesses. The network is free to join and open to students, alumni, staff and local women in the business community.

Inspired by the Alison Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship, KUWEN was created to help women tackle challenges to business success. The review highlighted problems such as access to funding and a lack of networks for women entrepreneurs. By addressing these challenges, KUWEN aims to unlock the untapped potential of women entrepreneurs and contribute to the UK economy.

KUWEN hosts monthly events and workshops that feature successful business leaders as guest speakers. These sessions cover topics like business strategy, marketing, funding and problem-solving. The network also offers one-to-one mentoring to provide personalised advice and feedback on business ideas.

Peer support

In addition to expert guidance, KUWEN offers a peer-to-peer support group where women entrepreneurs can share their experiences, learn from each other, and grow their networks.

KUWEN events have featured inspiring guest speakers such as:

• Kaitlin Fritz – Tech Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Musemio
• Giulia Iannucci – Brand Strategist and Digital Marketing Consultant
• Liz Machtynger – Senior Lecturer at Kingston Universityand Business Consultant

These speakers offer real-world insights, inspiring members in their entrepreneurial journeys.

With over 50 members and a growing list of mentors, KUWEN continues to expand. The network plans to host more focused activities and events in the coming months, helping more women entrepreneurs develop the skills they need for success.
